Intelligence Bureau Recruitment 2025 – Security Assistant/Executive (SA/Exe)

As per the official notification, the Intelligence Bureau (Ministry of Home Affairs) has announced recruitment for Security Assistant/Executive (SA/Exe) across multiple Subsidiary Intelligence Bureaux (SIBs) in India.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Matriculation (10th pass) or equivalent from a recognized Board
  • Domicile certificate of the State/SIB you apply for
  • Knowledge of any one local language/dialect prescribed for that SIB

Desirable

Field experience in Intelligence work.

Age Limit

18–27 years as on 17 August 2025. Relaxations as per rules:

  • SC/ST: +5 years
  • OBC (NCL): +3 years
  • Departmental candidates with ≥3 years service: up to 40 years (Central Govt. civilian posts)
  • Widows/Divorced/Judicially separated women (UR/OBC/SC/ST): up to 35/38/40 years respectively
  • Ex-servicemen & Meritorious sportspersons: as per Government norms

Note: The SA/Exe post is not identified as suitable for PwBD; such candidates need not apply.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Tier-I: Online Objective Test (100 Marks, 1 Hour)
  • General Awareness (20 Q)
  • Quantitative Aptitude (20 Q)
  • Logical/Analytical Ability & Reasoning (20 Q)
  • English Language (20 Q)
  • General Studies (20 Q)

Negative marking: ¼ mark per wrong answer. Cut-offs may vary by category and vacancy load.

Tier-II: Descriptive (50 Marks, 1 Hour)

Translation of a ~500-word passage from the opted language/dialect to English and vice versa. Qualifying in nature; minimum 20/50.

Tier-III: Interview/Personality Test (50 Marks)

Shortlisting for Tier-III is based on normalized Tier-I scores and qualifying Tier-II.

Merit & Tie-Breaker

Final merit is based on combined Tier-I + Tier-III. Tie resolution: Tier-I marks → Tier-III marks → Date of birth (older first) → Alphabetical order of first name.

How to Apply (Online Only)

  1. Visit the MHA website or the NCS portal.
  2. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number; note the Application Sequence Number (ASN).
  3. Fill personal, qualification, and category details; upload recent photo and signature in the prescribed sizes.
  4. Pay the fee via SBI ePay Lite (cards/net-banking/UPI) or generate SBI challan and deposit in bank.
  5. Save/print the submitted application and payment acknowledgement for future reference.

Tip: Apply well before the deadline to avoid last-minute server rush. Ensure your uploaded photograph and signature are clear and as per size limits.

What languages are required?

You must know at least one language/dialect specified for the SIB you apply to (read, write, speak).

Is Tier-II counted in merit?

Tier-II is qualifying (20/50). Final merit uses Tier-I (normalized) + Tier-III (Interview).

Who is exempt from the ₹100 exam fee?

SC/ST candidates, all female candidates, and eligible Ex-servicemen (they still pay ₹550 processing).

Can I apply to multiple SIBs?

Apply carefully: the SIB and exam city options, once chosen, cannot be changed later.
